The Springfield Armory SA-16A2 is a recent-production, A2-pattern 5.56 NATO rifle built around a 20 inch chrome-lined 4150 CMV barrel and a rifle-length direct-impingement gas system. It pairs forged 7075-T6 receivers with an M16-pattern, HPT/MPI bolt carrier group and classic A2 iron sights. This example features cosmetic U.S. GOVT-style lower markings and tasteful custom artwork applied to the right-side magwell and included magazine.

Specific Condition Notes: This firearm shows minor, superficial scratches and small blemishes. The bore is clean and shiny. There is light finish blemishing on the receiver from a previously mounted optic.

Built on forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with a Type III hardcoat anodized black finish, the SA-16A2 includes M4 feed ramps and the Accu-Tite receiver tensioning system. It also incorporates the A2-era controls and features buyers expect: forward assist, brass deflector, and an ejection-port cover.
The 20 inch barrel is 4150 CMV steel, chrome-lined, and cut with a 1:7 twist to stabilize a wide range of 5.56 NATO projectiles. It is threaded and capped with a closed-bottom A2 flash hider. A rifle-length gas system delivers the traditional A2 handling and dwell characteristics.
Sighting is true to form with an A2 front sight tower (with bayonet lug) and an integral A2 carry-handle rear sight with dual apertures. Classic furniture completes the configuration: fixed A2 stock with rear sling swivel, A2 pistol grip, and round two-piece polymer handguards with integral heat shields.
Internals are duty-focused, featuring an M16-pattern carrier with a Carpenter 158 bolt that is HPT/MPI inspected, a properly staked gas key, and a phosphate exterior. Overall length is 39.5 inches with a listed weight of 7 lb 8 oz, capacity is 30+1, and length of pull is 13.5 inches. Cosmetic lower markings include "PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVT" and "SAFE/SEMI/BURST." The SA-16 series launched on April 30, 2024, and this rifle is U.S.-made.
