The 4 in barrel uses a full underlug and an integral top rib with longitudinal serrations. The full-length ejector rod is fully shrouded by the underlug, and the satin stainless finish is applied across the barrel, frame, and cylinder for a uniform look.
The 10-shot fluted cylinder chambers .22 Long Rifle and rotates smoothly in double-action or single-action use. Controls include an exposed hammer and a smooth-faced trigger, with an internal key lock incorporated above the cylinder latch.
Sighting equipment consists of a pinned black blade/ramp front sight and a black micrometer-click adjustable square-notch rear sight. The rib serrations help cut glare along the sighting plane.
Factory markings include the model designation 617-6 on the yoke cut, the S&W crest on the sideplate, "SMITH & WESSON" on the right side of the barrel, and "22 LONG RIFLE CTG." on the left. One-piece black textured synthetic grips with molded S&W medallions complete the setup. Made in the USA.
