The P22 shown here is the first-generation configuration (not the later P22Q), with Walther banner logos on the frame and slide and a Smith & Wesson Springfield, MA import mark. It carries German DE proof marks and a two-letter date code "AK" on the chamber, aligning with its Made in Germany origin.
It is a blowback-operated, semi-automatic pistol in .22 LR with a compact polymer frame. The trigger system is DA/SA, complemented by an external spurred hammer, a slide-mounted manual safety, and an ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release.
The 3.9 inch steel barrel is threaded and fitted with a thread protector, adding versatility while maintaining a clean profile. Sighting is straightforward and practical: a white-dot front blade with replaceable-height inserts and a screw-adjustable notched rear blade.
Controls and handling features include an integrated accessory rail on the dust cover and a 10+1 capacity using the included single-stack magazine. The slide wears a matte black finish over a black polymer frame, presenting a cohesive, durable look.
An OEM Walther rail-mounted red laser is installed from the factory, providing an added sighting option that pairs neatly with the pistol’s compact size and accessory rail.
