Built in Finland in 1966, this L579 Forester Deluxe is marked "FORESTER MADE IN FINLAND" on the receiver and "SAKO Cal..308" and "Bofors Steel" on the barrel. It uses the L579 action with an engine-turned (jeweled) bolt body and a two-position thumb safety. The internal magazine provides a 4+1 capacity.
The 23 blued sporter-contour barrel is crafted from steel and carries the Bofors Steel marking from this era. The rifle is configured without iron sights, and the receiver features integral tapered Sako dovetail rails. Scope mounts are installed.
The Deluxe walnut stock presents the classic Monte Carlo profile with a right-side shadow-line cheekpiece and crisp skip-line checkering. It is finished with a contrasting fore-end tip and white-line spacer, a crossbolt reinforcement, sling swivel studs, and a ventilated recoil pad with white-line spacers. The dark oval grip cap features the Sako pine tree inlay.
Factory embellishments include scroll engraving on the floorplate and trigger guard. Finnish proof marks (lion) and inspector’s initials are present. Length of pull measures 13.5, and the rifle wears an even blued finish throughout the steel receiver and barrel.
