The FN 509 Compact MRD in Flat Dark Earth brings the proven 509 series into a carry-friendly size with a 3.7 in cold hammer-forged stainless barrel, an MRD optics-cut slide, and raised all-black sights designed to co-witness with mounted optics. This no manual safety configuration adds ambidextrous slide stop levers, a reversible magazine release, and a flat-faced trigger, with two magazines included to deliver 12+1 or 15+1 capacity.

This Compact MRD variant pairs a Flat Dark Earth slide and frame with an optics-cut top end that uses FN’s Low-Profile Optics Mounting System. The included adapter plates support a broad range of miniature red-dot footprints, and the raised all-black iron sights are designed to co-witness when an optic is installed.
The 3.7 in stainless steel barrel is cold hammer-forged and finished with a recessed crown, polished chamber, and polished feed ramp. These features reflect FN’s emphasis on durability and reliable feeding in a compact format.
Controls and ergonomics are well-sorted: ambidextrous slide stop levers come standard, the magazine release is reversible, and the flat-faced trigger with a safety tab offers a consistent striker-fired action. Aggressive grip texturing and interchangeable backstraps help the shooter tailor the fit, with two additional inserts included.
