This Mk IV/Series 70 retains the original Series 70 design without a firing pin block, favored for its classic internals and clean trigger characteristics. The pistol is built on the full-size 1911 platform with a 5-inch barrel and a 7+1 capacity, chambered in .45 ACP.
Colt equipped this model with the Accurizor collet bushing and a matched barrel, a hallmark feature of the era intended to enhance barrel-to-bushing fit. The slide shows rear vertical serrations and a standard ejection port, paired with fixed sights that include a small blade front and a square-notch rear.
The finish is blued with polished flats and matte rounds over a carbon steel frame, presenting the classic commercial Colt appearance of the 1970s. Controls and setup include a wide spur hammer, a serrated trigger face, an arched and vertically serrated mainspring housing, and a GI-style grip safety tang.
Checkered wood grips with Colt gold medallions complete the period-correct look. Additional markings include an "F" inspector mark on the right front trigger guard. The G70-suffix serial series and large slide rollmarks align with late-1970s commercial production, and this example is marked as MFG. 1978 in the records.
