This AUG/A3 M1 uses a short-stroke gas-piston system with a rotating bolt for reliable operation. The barrel is cold hammer forged and chrome-lined in both bore and chamber, designed for durability and sustained fire. A multi-position adjustable gas regulator allows the shooter to tune the rifle to varying conditions.
The rifle features the AUG quick-detach barrel system and a 20-inch barrel with a threaded muzzle and thread protector. The bullpup layout keeps overall length to approximately 31 inches (per factory specs) while retaining full-length ballistics. Length of pull is approximately 15.0 inches.
The Long Rail configuration provides a 25-slot Picatinny top rail for mounting optics and a right-side accessory rail for additional attachments. The left-side, non-reciprocating charging handle supports efficient manipulation, and the ejection is to the right side as configured.
Its NATO stock accepts AR-15/STANAG pattern magazines, and this rifle comes with one 60-round and three 40-round magazines. The polymer stock is finished in black with a rear sling provision, complementing the hard-anodized aluminum receiver.
Factory markings include: "STEYR ARMS, INC., BESSEMER, AL – AUG/A3 M1 – CAL .223 REM / 5.56×45" on the receiver and "5.56×45" on the barrel shank. Overall weight is about 7.9 lb (per factory specs), and the rifle includes rails and a scope mounting interface via the long top rail.
