This DDM4 V7 uses a mid-length direct-impingement gas system paired with a 16-inch government-profile barrel. The barrel is cold hammer forged from 4150 CMV steel and chrome lined, with a 1:7 twist to stabilize a broad range of 5.56/.223 projectiles. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28 TPI and fitted with the Daniel Defense open-prong Improved flash suppressor.
The free-float Daniel Defense MFR 15.0 handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and provides M-LOK compatibility, integrated QD sling sockets, and a continuous 1913 Picatinny top rail that runs receiver to muzzle. This setup offers strong accessory mounting options while keeping weight low and the barrel free from external contact.
Receivers are 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish. Controls include an ambidextrous safety selector, forward assist, and ejection-port dust cover. The bolt carrier carries the DD monogram, and the handguard is marked with U.S. Patent No. 7,716,865.
