The A17 uses Savage's delayed-blowback interrupter lug system specifically designed for the .17 HMR, delivering reliable cycling with this high-velocity rimfire load. It features a hard-chrome bolt and a case-hardened carbon steel receiver with a right-side ejection port.
The 22-inch carbon steel barrel is button-rifled with a sporter contour and a crowned, unthreaded muzzle. A 1:9 twist supports common .17 HMR bullet weights and is paired with a clean, mirror-bright bore.
The AccuTrigger is user-adjustable and uses a bladed design for a crisp break, and a cross-bolt safety adds simple, positive control. The detachable rotary magazine provides a 10+1 capacity and is marked '17 HMR'. Length of pull is 13.75 inches, overall length is 41.5 inches, and weight is approximately 5.6 pounds.
