Pioneer Arms builds the Hellpup entirely from new components, avoiding surplus parts and ensuring consistent quality. The forged trunnion and upgraded 90° gas block enhance longevity under rapid fire, while the black phosphate finish protects the rifle inside and out.
The rifle’s 16.5" overall barrel length is achieved by permanently welding a muzzle extension to the original short barrel, eliminating SBR paperwork and keeping the classic AK profile intact. The extension is threaded to accept standard 14×1 LH muzzle devices should the owner wish to add one.
A Romanian AIMS-74-inspired side-folding wire stock locks solidly into place yet stows flat against the receiver for easy transport. Combined with the laminated hardwood handguard, the Hellpup maintains a traditional appearance with modern ergonomics.
Sights consist of a hooded front post and a tangent rear notch graduated for quick elevation adjustments. A stamped selector lever provides familiar AK safety operation, and the polymer Fostech pistol grip contributes to U.S. 922(r) parts compliance.
