The vz. 52 is a single-action, short-recoil pistol with a distinctive roller-locked mechanism. It features an external hammer and a right-side, frame-mounted safety and decocker. The heel-type magazine catch and lanyard loop at the heel reflect its service-oriented design.
This pistol was manufactured in 1953 and accepted into Czechoslovak military service, as indicated by the crossed swords '53 acceptance mark. Additional markings include a small proof crest, the "CZECH" marking, and "7.62 TOK" caliber designation. The frame carries the "rid" code, and there is an oval VOP repair mark.
Provenance and importation are clearly documented by the "C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT." import mark from Century Arms International. Serial numbers match on the slide, frame, and barrel, supporting a consistent and correct configuration throughout.
Construction and handling details include a full-size steel frame, rear cocking serrations on the slide, and fixed iron sights with a blade front and notch rear. The grip panels are grooved brown plastic retained by a spring-steel wrap clip, providing a secure, period-correct hold.
