This Springfield Armory XD Compact in .45 ACP combines a compact grip with a service-length slide and a 4" hammer-forged, Melonite-treated barrel. The XD Compact runs a striker-fired, short-recoil, locked-breech action tailored for .45 ACP. Its dual captive recoil spring on a full-length guide rod is designed for consistent cycling and manageable recoil in a compact footprint.
The 4" hammer-forged barrel receives a Melonite treatment and uses a 1:16 twist. A forged steel slide with a black Melonite finish adds durability and corrosion resistance, while front and rear slide serrations provide a positive grasp for press checks and manipulations.
Controls and safeties are well-appointed: an ambidextrous magazine release, an integrated trigger safety lever, a grip safety, a loaded-chamber indicator, and a striker status indicator. Dovetailed 3-dot steel sights are fitted front and rear for a clear, robust sight picture.
The black polymer frame features a textured grip with SA-XD molded logos and an accessory rail for mounting a light or laser. The compact grip accepts full-size XD-45 magazines with the appropriate sleeve, and standard capacity is 13+1.
