The Model 66 features a seven-round cylinder chambered in .357 Magnum and also accepts .38 Special. Its double-action/single-action operation with a transfer bar safety delivers confident handling and reliable ignition. The model designation is confirmed by the crane/yoke stamp.
The 6-inch barrel uses a full-length underlug and heavy profile to stabilize the sight picture and manage recoil. A serrated top rib reduces glare. Sights include a fixed ramped, serrated front and a fully adjustable square-notch rear that is marked with UP and R directional arrows.
The revolver is built on a steel frame with a polished blued/black finish, matched by a polished blued/black cylinder. Small parts, including the hammer, trigger, and ejector rod knob, are left in-the-white. The exposed hammer has a wide, serrated spur for positive cocking, and the grips are black textured rubber with finger grooves and Taurus medallions.
Markings include the barrel rollmark ".357 MAGNUM" and a raised TAURUS logo panel on the left side of the barrel. The right side of the frame bears the Taurus bull logo. The revolver is made in Brazil with the import legend "TAURUS INT. MFG. MIAMI, FL – USA" present.
