The 8-inch octagonal stainless steel barrel uses a 1:30 LH twist with seven grooves. The barrel is marked "BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL." and carries the "F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY" manufacturer marking.
Operation is single-action percussion with a six-round cylinder. An under-barrel hinged loading lever with a front latch supports traditional black powder loading. Sighting is straightforward with a blade front and a rear notch in the top strap.
