Built at Izhmash in Izhevsk, Russia, this Saiga was imported by Russian American Armory Company prior to the 2014 sanctions that halted Russian Kalashnikov imports. It is marked "SAIGA .223Rem" on the right side of the receiver and carries Russian factory/proof marks along with the Cyrillic model marking "САЙГА" and the RAA import mark.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt. It features a stamped-steel receiver with riveted trunnions and an AKM-type top cover. Controls include a paddle-style magazine release and a manual safety/selector lever with "S" and "F" legends. Detachable box magazines provide a stated capacity of 30+1.
Furniture and setup are tailored for adjustability and control. A Tapco adjustable/collapsible stock on a receiver adapter is installed, paired with a slip-on recoil pad. Length of pull is adjustable to approximately 11 to 14.5 inches. The ribbed U.S.A.-marked polymer pistol grip offers a firm, consistent hold.
Sighting equipment consists of iron sights with an AK-pattern adjustable tangent rear. The rifle has a scope mount and an aftermarket ventilated polymer handguard with elongated slots and bolt-on Picatinny rail sections at 3, 6, and 12 o'clock. A cylindrical muzzle extension/device is installed. Two 30-round magazines are included, one of which is a Magpul PMAG.
