The M&P-15 is an American-made, aluminum-receiver AR-15 chambered in 5.56mm NATO and built on a direct-impingement action. It retains key AR features including a brass deflector, forward assist, and an ejection-port cover. The rifle uses the AR-15/STANAG magazine interface and is marked with MODEL M&P-15 and Smith & Wesson, Springfield, MA, Made in U.S.A., with an M&P 15 rollmark on the left magwell.
The 16 inch barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2-style birdcage flash suppressor. This configuration supports common muzzle device standards while keeping the rifle handy and balanced.
