Manufactured in 1979 (MFG. 1979), this Python is built on the Colt I-Frame with hand-fitted lockwork and a leaf mainspring, delivering the smooth mechanical character the model is known for. It bears a V-prefix serial, with matching numbers observed on the crane and inside the frame window.
The revolver wears the classic 4-inch barrel length, not the later 4.25-inch 2020 reissue configuration. The barrel features a full underlug and ventilated rib that define the Python profile. Its finish is a bright metallic, non-blued presentation, consistent with the note that it is NOT BLUED.
The six-shot fluted cylinder includes a fully shrouded ejector rod with a knurled tip. Chambers accept both .357 Magnum and .38 Special, offering flexibility at the range.
Sighting is handled by a ramped, pinned front and an adjustable square-notch rear. The DA/SA action pairs a smooth trigger with an exposed hammer that has a wide, checkered spur. A hammer block safety is present. The revolver is built on a steel frame and is fitted with checkered walnut grips bearing gold Colt medallions. Made in the United States.
