Built on the 1911 platform, this MK IV/Series 80 Government .380 is the RS-prefix stainless variant, manufactured in 1991. Its matte/satin stainless slide and frame deliver a cohesive look in a compact format designed around the .380 ACP cartridge.
The pistol uses a single-action, locked-breech, tilting-barrel system with a single locking lug and cam path (no swinging link). A traditional 1911-style barrel bushing is paired with a checkered recoil-spring plug. The slide can be cycled with the safety engaged, adding convenience during administrative handling.
Controls include a push-button magazine release and a single-side thumb safety, along with the Series 80 firing-pin block. It is fitted with a short, solid trigger and a rowel-style spur hammer. This variant does not include a grip safety with a raised tang on the backstrap.
Sight components are fixed, with an integral ramp front that carries a red-painted blade and a dovetailed square-notch rear. Rear vertical serrations on the slide aid purchase. Black checkered plastic grips with silver Colt medallions complete the setup. Capacity is 7+1, and the barrel length is 3.25 inches.
