The PC Charger uses a simple, reliable blowback action with a dead-blow tungsten weight in the bolt to help moderate recoil and improve cycling. Ruger’s quick takedown barrel/forend system makes transport and cleaning straightforward without tools.
The 6.5" chrome-moly steel barrel is cold hammer-forged with a heavy contour and 1/2-28 threads capped by a knurled protector. Controls are adaptable: the charging handle and magazine release are reversible, and the safety is a cross-bolt type. The trigger uses 10/22-pattern components with a light, crisp pull and short reset.
Construction is robust and modular. The receiver is CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish, paired with a glass-filled polymer frame and an aluminum M-LOK handguard. A full-length Picatinny top rail is provided with no iron sights, and a rear 1913 Picatinny rail serves as the brace interface. Ejection is from the right side.
Magazine flexibility is a core strength. Interchangeable magwells accept Ruger SR-Series/Security-9 and Glock-pattern magazines. This example includes three magazines (34-, 21-, and 17-round) for a 34+1 capacity with the largest mag. It was manufactured in 2021 in the USA, with markings observed: "PC CHARGER", "9MM LUGER", and "RUGER NEWPORT, NH, USA".
