This DPMS A-15 Sportical is a St. Cloud, Minnesota-era carbine configured with a slick-side flat-top upper and practical upgrades. It features a 16-inch 5.56 NATO barrel with a 1:9 twist and A2 flash suppressor, flip-up sights, and a Magpul CTR adjustable stock with friction lock. It includes both a 40-round and a 30-round magazine, offering a stated maximum capacity of 40+1.

The Sportical configuration uses a flat-top, slick-side upper receiver with no forward assist, no ejection-port cover, and no case deflector. Receiver markings include the DPMS Panther Arms logo and model/caliber on the left, and D.P.M.S. St. Cloud, MN U.S.A. on the right with SAFE/FIRE legends.
The lower is an F-prefix DPMS forged receiver associated with the St. Cloud production era.
The 16-inch barrel is marked "DPMS CAL 5.56 1–9" and wears an A2 birdcage flash suppressor. It is threaded and carbine-profile, pairing with a direct-impingement, semi-automatic operating system. The twist rate is 1:9 to match common 5.56/.223 loads.
Sighting is handled by flip-up units: a front sight mounted on the railed gas-block and a rear aperture sight on the receiver rail. The carbine-length two-piece polymer handguard includes bolt-on polymer Picatinny rail sections for mounting accessories as desired.
This example is upgraded with a Magpul CTR adjustable carbine stock featuring a friction lock, plus an ergonomic rubberized finger-groove pistol grip. A QD sling swivel is installed in the stock. The rifle uses the standard AR-15/STANAG magazine interface and has a stated maximum capacity of 40+1; it ships with one 40-round and one 30-round magazine. A manual safety selector is present.
