This SA-V runs a simple blowback, closed-bolt action in 9mm Luger and is built on a stamped 1 mm steel receiver. It is a U.S.-made AK-pattern pistol with factory markings that include SOVIET ARMS WEST COLUMBIA, SC, the model and caliber, the triangular Soviet Arms logo, and S / A / F selector markings.
The 9.5-inch barrel is 4150 steel with a nitrided finish for durability. It is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with a two-port tanker-style muzzle brake.
Furniture consists of a Magpul MOE AKM lower handguard and a Magpul AK pistol grip. A right-side folding, skeletonized triangle pistol brace (polymer and metal) completes the rear assembly. Controls include a manual safety.
For sighting, the pistol uses an AK-style front sight block with a fixed rear sight. The hinged, full-length Picatinny-railed top cover provides a solid mounting surface, and the platform is listed as having a scope mount.
