Chambered in .22 LR, it uses a six-shot fluted steel cylinder and a 6-inch steel barrel. The revolver operates on a traditional single-action mechanism with side-loading gate operation.
The alloy frame wears a black finish paired with a blued barrel and a bright plated cylinder and ejector housing. Gold-toned trigger and screws, along with two-piece smooth wood grips inset with gold Colt medallions, complete the commemorative presentation.
Markings include gold-filled barrel legends with '1869 – GOLDEN SPIKE – 1969' and model text, plus the circled Rampant Colt logo on the frame. Factory scroll engraving decorates the butt-strap center strip. Fixed sights consist of a quarter-round front blade and a square-notch topstrap rear.
