Built by Remington Rand Inc., the largest wartime producer of M1911A1 pistols, this example dates to 1945 production and features the desirable Type III slide legend. The CMP release confirms U.S. Government custody prior to its 2021 disposition, strengthening its historical provenance.
Markings are correct for a U.S. service pistol: UNITED STATES PROPERTY and M1911A1 U.S. ARMY rollmarks, P proof on the slide and frame, and the FJA ordnance acceptance stamp. These identifiers align with its WWII service era and manufacturer.
It retains classic GI architecture, including an arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop, spur hammer, and a short serrated trigger. The sights are the standard fixed GI pattern with a small blade front and square-notch rear. Brown checkered composite grips and a carbon steel frame complete the period-correct configuration.
The 5-inch barrel is a U.S. government replacement part marked 19200- ASSY 5508694 MFR. 1M291. Chambered in .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity, the pistol operates via a single-action, short-recoil (tilting-barrel) system with both a thumb safety and a grip safety. One 7-round magazine is included.
