    What’s Included

    • One-piece receiver-mounted scope base (installed)

The Model 660’s compact 20-inch round sporter barrel balances well and ends in a crowned muzzle. It is marked “6MM. REM.” and “MADE IN U.S.A.”, with Remington inspector/date marks ahead of the receiver ring. The blued finish complements the carbine configuration.

Iron sights include a ramped front blade on an integral base and an adjustable folding rear barrel sight with elevator. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped in a three-hole pattern, and this rifle has a one-piece base installed on the receiver.

The walnut sporter stock shows classic factory details: cut checkering, a black forend tip with white line spacer, a black pistol-grip cap with white diamond inlay, and a black hard plastic buttplate with a white line spacer. Length of pull is 14 inches.

Mechanically, it is a bolt-action rifle with the family’s recognizable forward-swept “dog-leg” bolt handle and a fixed internal box magazine with a 4+1 capacity. It uses a one-piece black synthetic trigger guard/magazine plate.

Produced from 1968 to 1971 in the United States, the Model 660 had an approximate total production of 50,536. The 600/660 family was the subject of a 1979 safety bulletin regarding the bolt-lock safety.
