Built during the 1994–2004 AWB era, this rifle carries the "Restricted Law Enforcement / Government Use Only" magwell rollmark and "B.F.I. WINDHAM, ME. U.S.A." receiver marking, identifying production at Bushmaster’s Windham facility. These features add clear historical context and mark it as a period-correct example.
The factory Dissipator configuration provides rifle-length handguards and an A-frame front sight base mounted near the muzzle on a 16" barrel, offering a longer sight radius while keeping a functional gas block at the carbine position under the handguards. The handguards are the ribbed, two-piece polymer type with heat shields.
The A2 upper includes a fixed carry handle with an integral elevation drum, along with a forward assist, brass deflector, and ejection-port cover. Up front are the delta ring and front sling swivel, and the barrel wears an A2 flash suppressor. A bayonet lug is present, consistent with the configuration details provided.
Furniture includes a collapsible CAR-type stock with a checkered buttplate and an end-plate sling loop, providing an approximate length of pull from about 10" to 13". The lower is fitted with an A2 pistol grip. The rifle retains iron sights: an A-frame front sight base and an A2 rear sight in the fixed carry handle.
The XM15-E2S uses a direct-impingement, semi-automatic action in the AR-15 platform and is chambered in 5.56mm NATO. Receivers are aluminum alloy with a hard-coat anodized finish. Capacity is listed at 30+1, and a manual safety is standard.
