Built on a small-ring Mauser 1893/1916-pattern receiver, the FR-7 was produced by Oviedo in the 1950s as a training and transition carbine for the 7.62 NATO era. This example is chambered in 7.62x51 NATO and retains the hallmark features of the type while offering a handy carbine length and classic Mauser handling.
The steel receiver uses a two-lug bolt with an oval gas-vent hole and a flag safety. Feeding is from an internal 5-round staggered box magazine (5+1) that is loaded via stripper clips. The hardwood stock includes a steel buttplate and left-side sling hardware, with a matching wood handguard. Length of pull is 13.5 inches.
Sighting is via a CETME-style rotary rear drum aperture paired with a tall, protected front post that is elevation-adjustable. The 18 inch barrel keeps the package compact while maintaining the sight radius and balance expected of this pattern.
At the muzzle, a three-prong flash hider doubles as a 22 mm rifle-grenade spigot. The front block integrates a bayonet lug, and the under-barrel hollow tube stores a cleaning kit and serves as the bayonet mounting bar.
