Product Description

Savage Model 99R .300 Savage Lever-Action Rifle, 24 in Barrel, 1954 Chicopee Falls, Blued Steel, Walnut Stock

This post-war Savage Model 99R was manufactured in 1954 at Chicopee Falls and is chambered in .300 Savage. It features a 24 in steel barrel, the classic internal rotary magazine with top ejection, and a blued steel receiver that is drilled and tapped. A rear bridge scope base segment is installed, and the walnut stock shows cut checkering with a pistol-grip and grip cap. An aftermarket Pachmayr white-line vented recoil pad sets the length of pull at 13.5 in.

    What’s Included

    • Rear receiver scope base segment (two-screw), installed

The Model 99R is a post-war configuration of Savage’s storied hammerless lever-action design. This example retains the internal rotary magazine and top ejection, offering a 5+1 capacity in .300 Savage. It was produced in 1954 at Chicopee Falls and carries the factory proof marking: "HI-PRESSURE STEEL – PROOF TESTED."

Its 24 in steel barrel and blued steel receiver present a classic field configuration. The receiver top is drilled and tapped, and a rear bridge scope base segment is already installed. Open iron sights include a ramped front with a dovetailed blade and a folding leaf rear with a stepped elevator.

The walnut stock features cut triangular-point checkering, a pistol-grip with grip cap, and a rounded forend. An aftermarket Pachmayr white-line vented recoil pad provides a 13.5 in length of pull, complementing the full-size profile.

Finish and materials are straightforward and durable: blued steel throughout with a steel receiver and a solid walnut stock. This 99R brings together its period-correct configuration, desirable .300 Savage chambering, and practical sighting and mounting provisions for a clean, functional package.
