Manufactured in 1950, this Auto-5 is an FN-made Browning in the Standard Weight configuration with a full-size profile. It retains a steel, blued receiver with factory scroll engraving and the distinctive "humpback" profile with a matted sighting plane. The left-side magazine cut-off and friction-ring recoil system reflect the correct period features.
The barrel is a 30-inch plain "Special Steel" tube with a fixed choke and a 2 3/4-inch chamber. A front bead provides a straightforward sight picture. The long-recoil, semi-automatic action is the classic Auto-5 system.
Stocks are walnut with a round-knob semi-pistol grip and checkering. The long walnut forearm has finger grooves and checkering that match the era and model. Length of pull measures 15 inches as currently set up with the installed slip-on recoil pad.
Markings include Belgian Liège proofs with "PV" smokeless, the "12-70" chamber designation, "MADE IN BELGIUM," and "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO" on the receiver. These markings confirm FN manufacture and Browning importation for the U.S. market in 1950. Capacity is five rounds and the gun maintains its plain (non-rib) barrel profile as noted.
