The XD-9 Sub-Compact uses a short-recoil, locked-breech, striker-fired system with a pivoting trigger and central safety blade. Its 3 inch, hammer-forged, Melonite-treated steel barrel and forged steel slide with black Melonite finish are engineered for durability, supported by a captive recoil spring.
Capacity is 13+1 with a double-stack magazine that includes witness holes to 13. The frame is a black polymer with textured frontstrap and backstrap and molded SA-XD panels for a secure, consistent grip.
Controls and safety features include an ambidextrous magazine release, a grip safety, USA trigger safety, and an internal striker block. A mechanical loaded-chamber indicator on top of the slide and a rear striker-status indicator provide immediate visual and tactile status checks.
Steel, dovetailed 3-dot sights (white-dot front, two-dot rear) pair with front and rear slide serrations for confident manipulation. A single-slot accessory rail is integrated into the dustcover for mounting compatible lights or accessories.
Markings include SPRINGFIELD INC., GENESEO IL, MADE IN CROATIA, SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S.A. Components are serialized on the slide, barrel, and frame.
