The TRP is a full-size 5 inch 1911 built on a steel frame and slide with a matte stainless finish. It uses a traditional bushing-fitted barrel and has a non-railed dust cover, preserving the streamlined classic profile while delivering TRP-series enhancements. Capacity is 8+1 in .45 ACP.
Controls and ergonomics include an ambidextrous thumb safety and a beavertail grip safety, paired with a skeletonized commander-style hammer and a skeletonized long, three-hole trigger. A checkered front strap and checkered mainspring housing work with layered textured G10 grip panels in a tan/gray pattern. An extended and flared magazine well integrated with the mainspring housing supports fast, consistent reloads.
The slide features front and rear cocking serrations and dovetailed sights. The front sight is a Trijicon H3 tritium unit with an orange ring, matched to a dovetailed, low-profile rear sight secured with a set screw for durability and a clear sight picture.
Markings include "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" with crest on the left side of the slide, "TRP" on the right side, and "S.A. .45 AUTO" on the barrel hood.
