The Competition Series build centers on a 5-inch Colt National Match stainless steel barrel marked 'COLT .45 AUTO NM' for precise lockup and consistent performance. A standard barrel bushing and GI-length guide rod with a checkered plug maintain the classic 1911 configuration.
The sighting system is set up for clarity and control: a dovetailed red fiber-optic front sight pairs with a low-mount, square-notch rear that is elevation-adjustable. The slide uses rear serrations only and a lowered ejection port to aid reliability and handling.
The two-tone finish combines a black slide with a matte stainless frame. The stainless frame features a smooth front strap and a flat mainspring housing. Gray/black textured G10 grips with a stylized COLT logo provide a secure hold.
Controls and fire-control components include an extended thumb safety, a beavertail grip safety, a skeletonized long trigger, and a skeletonized rowel-style hammer. The pistol uses the Series 70 firing system with no firing-pin block.
