This FNS-40 is the full-size manual-safety variant. It pairs a 4.0 in cold hammer-forged stainless barrel with a stainless slide finished in matte black. The 5.9 in sight radius and fixed 3-dot sights (white dot front, two white dots rear) provide a clear, consistent sight picture.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including both the slide stop and magazine release. An external extractor doubles as a loaded chamber indicator, and the striker-fired trigger includes an integral safety blade. This is not the compact version.
The polymer frame features textured grip panels with FN logos for a stable hold. Front and rear cocking serrations aid in slide manipulation. A MIL-STD-1913 rail with three slots supports common weapon-mounted lights or accessories.
Standard capacity is 14+1, and this pistol includes three 14-round steel magazines. Markings include "MADE IN USA" and "FNH USA Fredericksburg, VA," reflecting U.S. manufacture.
The FNS series preceded the FN 509 line, and this discontinued model offers the proven FNS design with a manual safety configuration many shooters prefer.
