The 18.5" steel barrel is a smoothbore with a fixed cylinder choke and a plain muzzle. It is chambered for both 2 3/4" and 3" shells, giving flexibility in load selection. A brass bead front sight provides a simple, durable aiming reference.
The rotary-bolt Speed Pump system is a hallmark of the Model 1300 line, designed for quick lockup and rapid follow-up shots. Capacity is 7+1 with 2 3/4" shells (about 6+1 with 3"), and the full-length tubular magazine runs to the muzzle for maximum round count in this configuration.
The receiver is aluminum alloy with a blued finish and longitudinal anti-glare serrations on top. Factory markings include "WINCHESTER MODEL 1300 DEFENDER 12 GA. 2 3/4 & 3" and "MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A." with "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" on the barrel, plus the Winchester oval "WP" proof near the chamber.
The hardwood stock has a straight comb and a Winchester-marked ventilated recoil pad. A ribbed wood "corncob" forend offers secure purchase, and the length of pull measures 14.0". The overall finish is blued, with a cross-bolt safety and bead-front-only sighting arrangement.
Key functional notes for this Defender include its 3" chamber and Cyl Bore setup, making it a straightforward, purpose-built configuration with proven Winchester features and markings.
