This full-size FN 509 Tactical stands out with a 4.5-inch threaded, cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel, suppressor-height iron sights, and the FN Low-Profile Optics Mounting System in matching Flat Dark Earth. Developed from FN’s submission to the U.S. Army MHS program and recognized with a 2018 NASGW-POMA award, it comes ready with two 24-round magazines, one 17-round magazine, a factory soft case, and the optics plates and hardware kit.

The 4.5-inch stainless steel barrel is cold hammer-forged and threaded 1/2x28 for muzzle devices. It includes a knurled, O-ringed thread protector for secure retention during use. This configuration delivers durability with straightforward serviceability.
The slide features front and rear cocking serrations for confident manipulation, plus an optics cut with cover plate. FN’s Low-Profile Optics Mounting System accepts a wide range of miniature red dot optics and is designed to co-witness with the tall iron sights. Protective wings on the slide cap and rear sight provide added shielding.
The Flat Dark Earth polymer frame and FDE slide present a cohesive finish. Controls include ambidextrous slide stop levers and a push-button magazine release. A MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail on the dustcover supports common weapon lights and accessories.
Capacity is 24+1 with the extended magazines, and this pistol includes two 24-round magazines along with one 17-round magazine. Interchangeable backstraps with aggressive texturing allow fit tuning. The FN 509 Tactical’s lineage traces to FN’s MHS program submission and it earned the 2018 NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for Handgun of the Year.
