The 20 inch round barrel uses Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling, noted for its numerous shallow grooves, and is paired with a full-length tubular magazine secured by two barrel bands. The barrel is roll-marked with the North Haven, CT address and "Model 336W Micro-Groove Barrel Cal. 30/30 Win." The carbine's capacity is stated as 6+1, depending on cartridge length.
The solid-top, side-eject steel receiver is blued and built to take a scope, and this rifle comes with a Marlin-branded 3-9x32 scope already mounted on a receiver rail with rings. The optic uses a 1 inch tube, a duplex reticle, and a second focal plane design, giving a practical magnification range for deer woods and general field use.
Sighting equipment includes a hooded front bead on a ramp and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. Safety features consist of a cross-bolt safety and a half-cock hammer, with an exposed hammer and an installed hammer spur extension to aid operation with the scope.
The hardwood stock and matching forearm show pressed checkering for grip, a black Marlin-logo buttplate, and sling attachment points via a stud on the stock toe and a loop integrated into the front barrel band. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches, and the overall metalwork and wood retain a consistent blued and hardwood presentation made in the United States.
