The barrel is a short, heavy-walled, fixed cylinder bore with a brass bead front sight for simple, durable sighting. The tubular magazine terminates nearly flush with the muzzle and features a knurled clean-out cap.
Construction details include an anodized aluminum receiver in a matte black/blue finish and a matte blued steel barrel. The receiver is marked "MOSSBERG 590S," while the barrel reads "MOSSBERG NORTH HAVEN, CT U.S.A. 590 12 GA." Twin action bars and dual extractors support positive cycling.
