The AUG A3 M1 layout keeps the action behind the trigger for a compact overall length of about 28.15 in while retaining a 16 in barrel. This rifle uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with an adjustable two-position regulator, paired with a left-side charging handle and a cross-bolt safety for straightforward operation.
The 16 in steel barrel is cold hammer forged, Mannox/nitrided, and quick-change. The barrel unit includes a folding vertical foregrip and a threaded muzzle wearing a factory-marked DA301 device, which is the Dead Air flash hider/suppressor mount included with this rifle.
An extended Picatinny top rail runs the length of the receiver, complemented by a right-side accessory rail. The stock is the standard AUG magazine configuration and is molded polymer in tan (mud/FDE). Sling mounting is supported by a front QD socket and a rear sling loop.
The receiver is aluminum with a Hard Eloxal hard-anodized finish, and the rifle is assembled in the United States in Bessemer, Alabama. Right-hand ejection is configured from the factory, with the left-side ejection port cover installed. Empty weight is approximately 7.7–7.8 lb, and length of pull is 15.0 in.
Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, this AUG includes one 42-round and four 30-round Steyr AUG-pattern polymer waffle magazines, supporting a capacity of 42+1 with the included extended magazine.
