The P229 is a compact, DA/SA, hammer-fired pistol chambered in .40 S&W with a 3.9" barrel and a 12+1 capacity. It uses a recoil-operated, locked-breech system and retains the proven P-series manual of arms with a decocking lever and left-side magazine release.
This example is the pre-rail configuration with a non-railed dustcover. It carries rear-only slide serrations and fixed, dovetailed 3-dot sights for a clean, traditional profile.
The slide is a one-piece milled stainless-steel unit marked "STAINLESS" with a matte stainless finish. The frame is a hard-anodized aluminum alloy, built in Germany and import-marked "SIGARMS, INC. EXETER NH" alongside "FRAME MADE IN GERMANY."
Controls include a curved trigger and external spurred hammer. Black textured polymer grip panels provide a secure hold. The frame was made in Germany while the slide was produced in the USA, consistent with this era of P229 production.
