The Mark I Target configuration centers on a fixed 5.5 inch bull barrel in carbon steel with a plain crown and non-tapered profile. This fixed-barrel, blowback design uses a cylindrical bolt with right-side ejection, delivering the stable, consistent foundation the series is known for.
Construction is all steel with a blued finish on the frame and receiver. The pistol uses checkered black synthetic grip panels with Ruger medallions and a heel-style magazine release. Capacity is 10+1 with the included 10-round magazine.
Controls include a manual thumb safety that also serves as a bolt hold-open via the safety. The front sight is a tall target-type blade on a pedestal base. The original adjustable rear sight is not visible due to the installed receiver-top rail and optic.
This example was manufactured in 1973 and carries the Southport, Connecticut rollmark with serial prefix 12-. The muzzle is non-threaded. A receiver-top Weaver/Picatinny-style rail is installed, topped with a REX tube-style red dot optic equipped with flip-up lens caps.
