The M77R is the sightless sporter configuration, pairing a 22-inch blued steel sporter-contour barrel with a recessed crown and a blued steel receiver. The receiver features integral Ruger dovetail scope bases, and the rifle feeds from an internal 4+1 box magazine with a hinged floorplate and in-guard latch.
The action is a push-feed design with an external claw extractor and a plunger ejector for positive, consistent operation. The bolt body is left in-the-white with a blued handle, and the safety is located on the tang for intuitive use.
The walnut stock shows cut checkering for grip, a black grip cap with Ruger medallion, and the classic red Ruger recoil pad with a black spacer. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches for a full-size fit.
Made in the USA in 1980, this M77R reflects the red-pad era styling and construction. Chambered in .30-06, it is a straightforward, steel-and-walnut sporter with no installed sights and a clean, blued finish on the metalwork.
