What’s Included
- Colt Blackpowder Arms Co. Model 1861 Navy Signature Series General Custer Edition revolver
The General Custer Edition is part of Colt's 3rd Generation Signature Series, produced circa 1996–2002 in the USA under Colt license. It retains the classic .36 caliber, six-shot, single-action percussion layout with a 7.5 inch round steel barrel and an under-barrel loading lever. Fixed sights consist of a blade front and a V-notch in the hammer.
Factory engraving follows Nimschke-style vine scroll with roughly 70% coverage across the barrel, frame, cylinder, hammer, trigger guard, and backstrap. The cylinder is scroll-engraved rather than carrying the traditional Ormsby naval scene, aligning with the commemorative theme. The steel construction wears an antique-silver finish that complements the engraving.
The one-piece rosewood grip is carved with an eagle-and-shield motif, adding a distinct visual and historical touch to the commemorative package. Markings include the top barrel address "ADDRESS SAM'L COLT NEW-YORK CITY" and "36 CAL" caliber designation.
Assembly and configuration details include a wedge-retained barrel and U.S. assembly with no foreign proofmarks. Matching serial numbers were observed on the barrel lug, frame, and grip-frame/trigger guard, consistent with factory practices for this series.
