This Marlin Model 1895CB Cowboy is a North Haven, Connecticut JM-stamped .45-70 Govt. lever gun with a 26" tapered octagon barrel and deep-cut Ballard-type rifling. It features a solid-top, side-eject receiver that is drilled and tapped with factory plug screws in place, traditional straight-grip walnut furniture, and classic semi-buckhorn sights. By Marlin serial convention, this example dates to 2007, and its bore condition is excellent.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: There is a spot of pitting on the barrel. There are some scratches on the receiver.

The Cowboy series configuration stands out with its 26" tapered octagon barrel and deep-cut Ballard-type rifling. This barrel uses a 1:20" twist with six grooves, delivering the traditional rifling form associated with the Cowboy line.
The receiver is the classic Marlin solid-top, side-eject design, and it is drilled and tapped from the factory with plug screws present. The serial number is placed on the left side of the receiver to facilitate tang-sight use. Iron sights include a ramped front blade with a brass bead and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear leaf with an elevator.
Furniture is straight-grip American walnut with a smooth fore-end, a blued steel fore-end cap, and a checkered black hard-rubber Marlin buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.25". The rifle wears a uniform blued finish over its steel receiver and barrel.
This JM-stamped barrel proofed example was produced in North Haven, CT, and decodes to 2007 by Marlin serial convention. It uses a full-length tubular magazine and incorporates Marlin’s cross-bolt safety.
