The Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 is a first-generation, metal-frame 9mm with a proven DA/SA system and classic S&W styling. Built in the 1970s–early 1980s era, it features the 39-2 engineering updates for enhanced reliability, an alloy frame to keep weight down, and a micrometer adjustable rear sight. What's Included
- Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 9mm pistol
- 1x 8-round single-stack steel magazine with witness holes
This Model 39-2 represents the refined iteration of S&W’s pioneering metal-frame 9mm line. The -2 engineering change brought a shorter spring-loaded extractor, a heavier-duty barrel bushing, and a reshaped feed ramp intended to improve feeding and overall reliability.
The pistol uses a short-recoil, locked-breech, tilting-barrel system with a separate muzzle bushing. It is a DA/SA design with a slide-mounted safety/decocker, giving the user familiar controls and a consistent manual of arms. Capacity is 8+1 with its single-stack magazine, and the barrel measures 4 inches.
Construction and sights are classic S&W: a blued steel slide over a black anodized aluminum alloy frame, paired with checkered walnut grip panels bearing S&W medallions. The micrometer adjustable square-notch rear sight and ramped front sight offer a precise, traditional iron-sight picture.
Slide details include rear cocking serrations and anti-glare serrations along the top to reduce reflections. Factory markings include the SMITH & WESSON slide rollmark, the S&W monogram/logo, and the "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." legend, underscoring its U.S. manufacture and brand heritage.
