This is a modern Italian-made reproduction of the Remington 1858 New Model Army in the compact Sheriff configuration. Built by F.lli Pietta in 2014 (date code CM), it features a 5.5 inch octagonal barrel, robust steel frame with a solid top strap, and a durable blued finish. The revolver has 1:30 inch left-hand rifling with seven grooves, smooth walnut grips with brass escutcheons, and clear Italian black-powder proofs and factory markings.

This Sheriff-length variant retains the Remington-pattern solid top-strap frame in steel and a blued finish throughout, paired with a brass trigger guard. The 5.5 inch octagonal barrel balances the revolver well while keeping the classic under-barrel loading lever for convenient charging.
Chambered in .44 and built on a six-chamber percussion cylinder, it operates on a single-action mechanism. The sighting system is true to form with a fixed front blade/post and an integral rear notch in the top strap.
The barrel is cut with 1:30 inch left-hand twist and seven grooves, a setup well-suited to traditional round ball or conical projectiles for this pattern of revolver. The two-piece smooth walnut grip panels include brass escutcheons for a clean, period-correct look.
Factory markings include F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY and BLACK POWDER ONLY .44 CAL., along with Italian PN black-powder proofs and the boxed CM date code confirming 2014 production. The revolver carries its serial on the buttstrap, and the manufacturer part number is RGASH44.
