The AR-50A1 uses a single-shot, bolt-action design chambered in .50 BMG. It employs a 30-inch chrome-moly steel barrel with a free-floated, heavy-profile straight taper and a 1:15 RH twist. A large multi-baffle muzzle brake is fitted to manage recoil and muzzle movement.
The octagonal 4340 steel receiver is manganese-phosphated and bedded into a V-channel aluminum chassis. The chassis is black hard-anodized and pairs with an extruded aluminum fore-end that features exterior flutes and an underside mounting rail/slots. Overall length is 58.5 inches with a factory weight of 37.1 pounds.
A long MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny top rail with a 15-MOA incline is installed. The rifle includes a two-position safety and a rubber finger-grooved pistol grip for secure handling. The length of pull measures 15.0 inches.
