Made in 1990, this original-series P85 is the classic P-Series configuration (not the later MK II or decocker-only variant). The serial prefix 301- aligns with 1990 production. As a full-size service pistol, it delivers a robust build and established Ruger P-Series design cues.
The construction pairs an investment-cast aluminum-alloy frame finished in black with a blued steel slide and a stainless steel 4.25 inch barrel. The barrel hood is marked "9mm x 19" alongside the Ruger phoenix, consistent with factory markings from this period.
Controls include a double-action/single-action trigger, a slide-mounted ambidextrous safety/decocker, and a left-side push-button magazine release. The spur hammer has horizontal serrations for positive control. A lanyard loop is integrated at the frame heel for secure retention when required.
Sight picture is a fixed 3-dot setup: a front blade with a white dot and a rear notch with two white dots that is drift-adjustable for windage. The one-piece black polymer grip panel features horizontal grooves and the Ruger roundel. Standard capacity is 15+1 with double-stack magazines, and this pistol includes two factory-compatible 15-round magazines. Country of origin is the USA.
