The core of this pistol is the original G1 Easy-Open frame, a break-open single-shot design known for its interchangeable barrel system. This example is a circa 1985 configuration and is chambered in .223 Remington with a capacity of one.
The barrel is a factory-marked Super 14, measuring 14 inches with a heavy profile and recessed crown. It is blued steel and built without iron sights, aligning with the scope-only setup. The bore presents a bright, mirror finish with sharp rifling.
It is factory-engraved with a large cougar head motif and scrollwork on both sides of the receiver, adding distinctive visual appeal to the blued steel finish.
Optics are handled by a Burris 2.5-7x32 Pistol Scope mounted on a one-piece base with rings. The variable-power scope features a crosshair reticle and complements the scope-only configuration. A left-side hammer-spur extension is installed for positive hammer control with the optic in place.
Aftermarket Pachmayr rubber furniture includes a checkered grip with inlaid medallions and a matching forend. These upgrades provide a secure, comfortable hold while maintaining the Contender's clean lines and classic profile.
