The RD704 Garand Thumb Edition combines Rifle Dynamics 700-series engineering with a compact 11.5 inch barrel and a long-stroke gas piston system. The AMD-65-length gas system and RD tunable front sight/gas-block support reliable function in a short-barrel configuration while keeping the sight radius forward with a hooded front sight/gas block combo.
Mounting provisions are well executed: the stamped AKM-pattern receiver includes a left-side optic dovetail, and the installed RS Regulate AK-302M side-rail mount provides a 1913 top rail. An SLR Rifleworks aluminum M-LOK handguard with an extended railed gas tube adds durable rail space along the handguard and over the gas tube, and a separate rear/top cover 1913 segment offers an additional mounting location.
The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with a two-chamber, multi-port brake to manage recoil and muzzle movement. Sights consist of a hooded front sight/gas block and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated 1-3 with red 'PZ/BZ' markings.
Ergonomics and controls include a TangoDown BG-AK polymer grip, a manual safety selector, and a folding adapter with an adjustable stabilizing brace to tailor length and storage. Capacity is 30+1 with the included magazines.
Markings include a winged figure logo engraved on the left side of the rear sight block and the maker's proof, RIFLE DYNAMICS LAS VEGAS, NV. The pistol is built in the United States on a stamped steel receiver.
