The AUG/A3 M1 uses a compact bullpup layout that balances the 16 in barrel within a short overall length. Factory references list approximately 28.15 in overall and about 7.8 lb empty. The white synthetic stock contrasts with the black hard-anodized aluminum receiver for a clean, two-tone appearance.
The barrel is cold hammer forged, chrome-lined, threaded, and part of Steyr’s quick-change system, secured by a quick-detach latch. A slotted flash suppressor is installed. The short-stroke gas piston system includes an adjustable gas regulator designed for reliable operation across conditions.
This NATO configuration accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines and uses an AR-style right-side magazine release. The rifle ejects to the right and features an ambidextrous charging handle. An integrated vertical foregrip provides a consistent forward hold, with a front QD sling ring and rear sling loop for carry options.
The High Rail configuration provides an extended Picatinny top rail, and there is a short accessory Picatinny rail on the right side. Controls and features include the right-side ejection, AR-style magazine release, and a robust, black hard-anodized receiver mated to the white synthetic stock.
