What’s Included
- Zastava Arms M48 8mm Mauser bolt-action rifle
- Installed cleaning rod
Produced by Zastava (Preduzeće 44) in Kragujevac, this M48 carries the Yugoslav socialist crest with five torches on the receiver ring, with "ФНРЈ" and "ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44" roll marks on the left receiver wall. The crest and markings place it in the pre-1963 socialist period, aligning with the 1950s–early 1960s production era. The receiver is marked "M48" beneath the crest.
It uses the intermediate-length Mauser 98 action with controlled-round feed and a turned-down round-knob bolt. The rifle retains a milled trigger guard and floorplate, a feature consistent with early M48 production rather than later stamped variants. The safety is the Mauser 98-pattern wing safety.
The 23.25 in barrel is paired with iron sights: a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight graduated from 200 to 2000 meters. Feeding is from an internal 5-round magazine, loaded via stripper clips, staying true to the model’s service configuration.
The hardwood stock is full-length with an upper handguard, a single cross bolt, a side sling slot, and a steel buttplate. A bayonet lug/nose cap assembly is present, and the cleaning rod is installed. The rifle wears a blued finish over its steel receiver and components, with an MK inspector’s cartouche among the stock markings.
Serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and floorplate match, while the buttstock is numbered differently. Additional small part numbering is present on the floorplate underside. The length of pull is 13 in.
